Sturgill Simpson ha pubblicato a sorpresa il doppio album bluegrass ‘Cuttin’ Grass Vol 1 – The Butcher Shoppe’, già disponibile in streaming e su vinile dall’11 dicembre per High Top Mountain Records e Thirty Tigers.
Il doppio album è un mixtape pensato e realizzato per i suoi fan, con ben 20 classici della discografia di Sturgill Simpson riadattati in chiave bluegrass, compresa la favorita dai fan ‘I Don’t Mind’ (in origine scritta e pubblicata nel 2011 con la sua prima band, i Sun Valley).
Il disco è stato registrato e prodotto durante il lockdown da Sturgill con l’ausilio in cabina di regia di di David Ferguson. Il disco è il tributo dell’artista al suo Kentucky, la casa in cui si è rifugiato durante la pandemia. Il disco è stato arrangiato e registrato con una band di incredibili musicisti locali, veri e proprio virtuosi e maestri del bluegrass.
Sturgill Simpson è uno dei musicisti country e rock più importanti della sua generazione, vincitore di un Grammy e con ben due lavori entrati nella top 10 degli album più venduti negli States.
