Jethro Tull – 50 for 50

I Jethro Tull suonarono il loro primo show al Marquee Club a Londra il 2 febbraio 1968. Fu il primo passo di un viaggio musicale epico che vide i Jethro Tull diventare una delle band rock progressive di più successo e più influenti nel mondo. Oggi il gruppo – con alla guida il fondatore Ian Anderson – è ancora in strada, elettrizzando il pubblico con un tour mondiale perfesteggiare il proprio cinquantesimo anniversario.

’50 For 50′ fornisce un ampio sguardo sul catalogo ricco e diversificato dei Jethro Tull, che include numerosi album certificati argento ed oro. Il cofanetto tre cd mette in evidenza in ordine cronologico l’evoluzione musicale della band con tracce del primo periodo con influenze blues (“Beggar’s Farm” e “A New Day Yesterday”); heavy rock (“Aqualung” e “Locomotive Breath”); prog classico (“Skating Away” e “Critique Oblique”); e melodie folk (“Songs From The Wood” e “Heavy Horses”).

La compilation contiene inoltre “Steel Monkey”, “Farm On The Freeway”, e “Budapest”- tre canzoni dall’album Crest Of A Knave che vinse il Grammy® nel 1987. La raccolta si chiude con “A Christmas Song” e “Ring Out Solstice Bells”- un paio di tracce che originariamente apparirono in The Jethro Tull Christmas Album (2003).

Il tour vede i Jethro Tull in Italia a luglio: il 17 a Molfetta, il 18 a Porto Recanati, il 19 a Roma, il 21 a Cagliari, il 23 a Milano e il 24 dello stesso mese a Firenze.
