I Gorillaz hanno pubblicao proprio questa settimana il loro nuovo album ‘The Now Now’. Disco interessante, che segna un passo indietro rispetto alla sperimentazione dello scorso anno con ‘Humanz’, ma che comunque prosegue il percorso artistico della band virtuale più famosa al mondo.
Alla vigilia dello sbarco in Italia, che avverrà proprio a Lucca il 12 luglio, di 2D e soci, non potevamo non prendere come video della settimana, ‘Humility‘. In realtà probabilmente lo avremmo scelto ugualmente perché è uno dei video più interessanti, divertenti e – come sempre con la band virtuale di Damon Albarn – colorati di quest’anno.
Guest star del video è Jack Black che suona tranquillamente nell’assolata Venice Beach, mentre tutto attorno, i Gorillaz si divertono: pattinano, giocano a scacchi oppure fanno scoppiare il pallone da basket di alcuni ragazzi.
Il video è realizzato dalla co-fondatrice dei Gorillaz, Jamie Hewlett che ha fatto pattinare 2D in giro per Venice, mentre Jack Black si atteggia aa busker. Gli altri membri dei Gorillaz, come dicevamo, appaiono durante il video: Noodles gioca a 
scacchi e il bassista ‘a interim’ Ace, fa il ‘cattivo’ con i ragazzi che giocano a basket. Del resto è difficile pensarlo ‘buono’, visto com’è. Ace ha preso il posto di Murdoc Niccals che è al momento ‘temporaneamente indisposto’, ma dove sia finito e cosa faccia rimane un mistero.
Nel finale del video appare anche il batterista Russel Hobbs, quando 2D rallenta la sua corsa alla fine della storia.
Un video divertente e simpatico, che piace fin dalla prima visione, ma soprattutto un video estremamente curato, nei dettagli, nei particolari, nella trama e nella realizzazione, come questa band virtuale ci ha abituati da sempre. Un video che si fa guardare e riguardare, sempre alla scoperta di nuovi piccoli segreti, ma anche di nuove sonorità in una delle canzoni più belle dell’album.
